Bob Hammer and Steven Seaweed met in 1999 while Bob
was in treatment for cancer, and headed off for Lance
Armstrong's "Ride For the Roses" event in Austin,
Texas. As cancer survivors, they headed Lance's call
for the "obligation of the cured" to help those who
are suffering from the disease. In 2005, they formed
the Have a Ball Foundation to directly benefit the
Lance Armstrong Foundation.
Today, the Have a Ball Foundation directly benefits
a host of cancer organizations. Last year, the Have a Ball
Foundation donated over $90,000.00 to 14 different
organizations.

BOB HAMMER
I am a two-time Testicular Cancer survivor. I had just finished 26 rounds of Chemotherapy in April of 2001 when I met Rick Hyman and John Phua at the Ride For The Roses. Both were testicular cancer survivors, and they introduced me to Lance's doctor, Dr. Craig Nichols. I was scheduled to have a surgery the following week at Stanford which would have prevented me from ever having children again. Long story short, I did not have surgery, thanks to Lance, his doctor, and these LAF members. Josh Hammer, who was born naturally after Testicular Cancer, is currently 5 years old. My wife Kim and I are eternally grateful and we're now fundraising for cancer awareness, cancer patients, and cancer research.
I'm a long time San Francisco disc jockey, avid cyclist, and prostate cancer survivor. When I was diagnosed in 2004, I immediately wanted and needed information. The Lance Armstrong Foundation was there for me when I got the news that changed my life. I learned that in my battle with cancer, knowledge is power and attitude is everything. I had successful surgery in October and am so grateful to my family and the many people who helped me get through this terrible disease. Please join me and Bob by supporting The Lance Armstrong Foundation.
