The "Have a Ball Foundation" reaches $100,000.00 For
2007
San Carlos, Ca. May 11, 2007
The Have a Ball Foundation has just surpassed
$100,000.00 in fund-raising for cancer this year, and
has now raised over $185,000.00 since its inception
just over 2 years ago.
Bob Hammer, a two-time testicular cancer survivor
from San Carlos, Ca. started the Have a Ball
Foundation in an effort to "give back" to the Lance
Armstrong Foundation after meeting Lance Armstrong and
his Oncologist in 2001 while battling his disease. After 26 rounds of chemotherapy in 2000/2001, Hammer
headed to Texas to participate in a "Ride for the
Roses" event through the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
There, he met Armstrong's Oncologist, Dr. Craig
Nichols, who felt Hammer did not need a surgery that
was scheduled for the following week. He did not have
that surgery, and now he and his wife Kim are
celebrating their son's 4th Birthday this May 20th.
This is a birthday that would not have happened
without the help of the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
The Foundation's main fund-raiser, the Have a Ball
Golf Tournament Presented by Ariba, has been
tremendously successful. Over 150 corporations have
now signed on to support the event, with this years'
tournament slated for Friday July 20th in Sunnyvale,
Ca.

"It is a great cause, the money supports so many
great organizations, and this event gives us great
benefits of sponsorship. Most notably, over 4 months
of radio mentions on a very popular radio station in
the San Francisco Bay Area. These radio mentions
itself far exceed the value of the small donation of
we
contribute" states Joanie Cavanaugh, Director of
Marketing for the Sequoia Hospital Foundation in
Redwood City, Ca.
Also in conjunction with Sequoia Hospital, The Have
a Ball Foundation will help promote testicular cancer
awareness this summer on the radio as well during San
Francisco Giants games on KNBR 680 Radio. Listen for
these spots this June 11-17 and August 6-12.

The Have A Ball Foundation is also a member of the
new Sequoia Hospital Cancer Awareness Partners
Program.
"This unique collaboration between a community
hospital and three select community based non-profit
groups will have one goal: to raise awareness for
cancer prevention through early screening and
education" states Joanie Cavanaugh of Sequoia.
